Sunnyside Up

Diani, Kenya
The restaurant inside Boxo Diani that became our canteen for the entire trip. We ate here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner most days — and never got tired of it. The breakfast platter sets you up for the day. Eggs however you want them, fresh fruit, toast, bacon, and coffee that's actually good. The lunch menu pivots to grilled seafood and burgers. The calamari is grilled, not deep-fried, with a squeeze of lime and chilli salt. Simple. Perfect. But the real stars are the drinks. Passion fruit mojitos that are dangerously drinkable — sweet, sharp, cold, and gone before you notice. The frozen margaritas by the pool became a daily ritual from about 3pm. Nothing on the menu is trying to be fine dining. It's just consistently good food in an excellent setting — tables by the pool, ocean visible through the palms, warm breeze. Coastal casual done right.
