Nomad Beach Bar
Diani, Kenya
Right on the sand. Lanterns strung between palm trees. Grilled calamari and cold Tusker beers. The kind of place where you sit down for a quick sundowner and end up staying until the bar closes at midnight.
The setting does most of the work. Tables in the sand, toes digging in while you eat. The ocean is right there — you can hear it even when you can't see it in the dark. Candles in glass jars on every table. The occasional crackle of a bonfire.
The food is reliably good. Not fine dining, just well-executed beach food. Grilled prawns. Fish and chips. Calamari that's tender, not rubbery. The kitchen knows what it's good at and doesn't try to be anything else.
The evening vibe is perfect: relaxed, warm, slightly buzzy. Stars overhead, sand underfoot, something cold in your hand. What more do you need.
